Flashing Lights Warn Library Visitors to Be Quiet

“When [noise] exceeds the level by at least 15 decibels, the red light illuminates and a siren can go off, too.”

A community college library director sent an email to collib-l yesterday about this product indicating plans to use it in his new learning commons. I still don’t see this as an inviting academic library/learning commons product.

I find it hard to believe that *anyone* would. I can only imagine that the Chronicle picked up the story for the amusement factor.
