In which I shove and make

I’m terribly excited to announce that I’m one of the recipients of the Library Society of the World‘s 2009 Shovers and Makers award. Why should Library Journal get to have all the fun?
New look

Time for a change. Perhaps Cindi inspired me. I re-skinned the blog (it’s the Pixeled WordPress theme, which I altered slightly to move things where I want them) and gave it a new title. The URL obviously remains the same (I bought librarianx.net a while back, but shifting the site seems like such a commitment…).
Congratulations M&S

Congratulations to this year’s Library Journal Movers and Shakers! I wanted to shout out to a few people in no particular order:
My GSU colleague Casey Long. She’s my mentor in the library’s program for new professionals, and the longer I work with Casey the more impressed I am by her. She deserves the recognition!
My online friends Jason Griffey, Michael Porter and Jenica Rogers-Urbaniek never fail to floor me with their dedication and intelligence.
And my very cool colleague Lia Friedman from the Library Instruction Roundtable Teaching, Learning and Technology committee!
I feel fortunate to know and work with so many innovative, passionate people.
Wii Fit review on Games in Libraries podcast

Wii Fit -- I have perfect balance!
My review of Wii Fit is in the March episode of the Games in Libraries podcast. If you haven’t used Wii Fit, my review gives an overview of how the game works before I talk about how libraries might use it.
(As you can see from the image at right, I am already a ninja master and no longer need Wii Fit to improve my skills.)
